Universal American School Theatre presented Bye Bye Birdie as the Spring Musical for the 2015-16 school year. On stage, the complex story of Conrad Birdie, his agent, and everyone else from Sweet Apple, Ohio was presented by 35 talented actors/actresses along with the incredible team of back stage support.
Bye Bye Birdie is set in 1958, during a tumultuous time when rock star Conrad Birdie is drafted by the U.S. Army. His teenage fans were devastated. Birdie’s struggling songwriter and agent Albert Peterson, wrote the song “One Last Kiss”, and this was expected to save the failing Almaelou record company. Through many twists and turns in relationships between parents, twenty somethings, screaming teenagers, and a popular rock star, it all ends happily ever after.
With remarkable singing, awesome choreography, and dazzling sets, UAS Theatre presented a rousing version of Bye Bye Birdie. The cast and crew had a delightful energy on stage. They truly relished in the limelight and gave the audience an impressive performance which was enjoyed by all.
Congratulations to the cast, crew and directors of Bye Bye Birdie! We look forward to future productions!
