Peer Power Rocks at UAS
All Our Children, under the banner of Peer Power Rocks is part of a new, ongoing initiative here at UAS aimed at raising awareness of special needs. This initiative is the brainchild of our teacher and CAS coordinator, Emily Ray and fellow UAS mom, April McCabe. Emily whose 2 year old son, Sam, was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome 6 months ago and April, who's 14 year old son Owen is autistic, felt there was a need to provide opportunities for their boys to interact with their neuro-typical peers. Thanks to this program, Sam, Owen and other children like them can enjoy access to their peers, who are in turn able to gain a greater understanding of the differences and similarities of all people.
In the article below you can read more about our first collaboration with Autism Rocks and learn about UAS student Fouad Abboud's experience on the day.
