Creatives at UAS

Music, Drama, Art and Music Technology run through every year group, taught in proper rooms by specialist staff. Our students stage full productions like Aladdin and The Wizard of Oz on a 546-seat theatre, work in two art studios and a ceramics room, and record their own tracks in the school's recording studio.

The Spaces Students Use

Creative work needs proper rooms, not corners.

The campus supports this with specialist facilities used throughout the year, including:

  • a multi-purpose hall that includes a full-scale theatre (546 seats)
  • black box theatre space for smaller performances and workshops
  • two fully equipped art studios
  • a dedicated ceramics room (with pottery equipment for hands-on ceramics work)
  • a recording studio, plus a radio station and podcast room for media and audio production

These spaces are used for lessons, rehearsals, exhibitions, student productions, and creative clubs.

Drama and Performance

Students from different grade levels have the opportunity to participate in a range of performances and productions that build confidence, collaboration, and performance skills.

Over recent years, Middle School and High School drama productions have included adaptations of well-loved stories such as:

  • Aladdin
  • The Wizard of Oz
  • Alice in Wonderland
The stage is busy here. 

Younger Elementary students also take part in drama experiences that connect performance with literature and imagination. For example, elementary cohorts have performed adaptations of popular children’s movies and books such as The Gruffalo and Moana Jr. giving younger learners a chance to perform in age-appropriate shows that build confidence and expressive skills.

Music and Music Technology

This programme brings together performance, theory, composition, and modern production skills, giving students a rounded musical experience that reflects both traditional practice and digital creativity.

Students learn how to produce, record, and edit music using Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and professional tools in the school’s recording studio, one of the dedicated creative spaces on campus. This includes:

  • recording techniques
  • editing and mixing audio
  • using digital tools to realise original compositions
  • exploring sound design and music production workflows

Performance Beyond the Classroom

UAS students band and musical groups formed at school regularly perform at community events and school celebrations, such as:

  • Fringe Festival, an arts and community evening celebrating student creativity and performance
  • During festive occasions at the Dubai Festival City mall
  • During events across the school calendar such as graduation

Visual Arts and Ceramics

Students develop technical skills while building confidence in expressing ideas visually.

The art studios support a wide range of media and approaches, and ceramics is part of the creative offering through a dedicated ceramics space where students work with clay and pottery equipment.

Student’s artwork is not kept hidden. Student pieces are shared through school displays and community events, helping students see their work valued in public spaces.
