Our History
Universal American School opened its doors in 2005, at a time when Dubai Festival City itself was still taking shape. From the very beginning, the school was established to offer families an American-style education with a strong international outlook, growing alongside a city on the rise.
The early years focused on building a clear identity, strong academic foundations, and a sense of community. A major milestone came in April 2007 with authorisation for the IB Diploma Programme, followed by the IB Primary Years Programme in May 2010.
This dual pathway approach, combining a US curriculum with the International Baccalaureate framework, gave UAS its distinctive position and broad appeal to globally mobile families seeking both choice and rigour.

Steady and Measurable Progress
Over the following years, it advanced to Good, reflecting consistent improvement in teaching, learning, and student outcomes. By 2017–18, inspectors recognised this progress with a Very Goodrating, a level the school has sustained through subsequent inspection cycles, including 2023–2025. In 2018, Universal American School entered a new phase of growth under the stewardship of the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation. This transition strengthened governance and long-term planning, with continued investment in students, staff, and campus development. | From its first KHDA inspection in 2008-2009, UAS has achieved sustained improvement and excellence. |
It also deepened the school’s connection to the wider Al-Futtaim, opening doors to experiential learning opportunities and real-world industry exposure.
The campus has evolved alongside the school’s academic journey. From its original academic and sports facilities, UAS has grown into a purpose-built campus of approximately 50,000 square metres.
