Building confidence through the arts.

Drama and theatre are a dynamic and thriving part of school life here at UAS.

“I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.”~ Oscar Wilde ~

At Universal American School, drama is recognized as a subject that benefits the overall learning and development of children. There are three main strands to the effective use of drama: a means to build children’s confidence and develop their social skills; a teaching approach for exploring cross-curricular subjects and issues, and an aid in developing children’s performance and self-presentation skills. These strands often overlap or interact and provide a useful foundation for future success.

The Multipurpose Hall at UAS has a full-scale theatre that seats 546 people.  Every year our students across the school have the opportunity to take part in a variety of performances and events that showcase the passion and hard work they put into these shows.  Over the last couple of years, our Middle School and High School students have treated us to stellar performances in adaptations of Aladdin, the Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland, whilst our younger cohort have delighted us with adaptations of popular children’s books such as the Gruffalo.
